During the day, you can see the monuments, museums and Roman archaeological sites. The Colosseum, the Pantheon, the remains of the Forum or Trajan’s Column are testament to the past grandeur of the city, when its legions dominated the whole of the Mediterranean and stretched to the edges of the known world. The Trevi Fountain and the Villa Borghese remind visitors that Rome’s cultural influence continued through the centuries, up to the Renaissance. Like travelling ? Cross the road into a different country : the Vatican City, the world’s smallest country, is also one of the most popular with tourists. Visit the Museum of the Vatican and St Peter’s Basilica and climb the stairs that will take you to the top of the Dome, where you’ll be met with a stunning view over Rome.
Then you can enjoy a calm evening back on your campsite a short distance away from Rome. You’ll love relaxing on the terrace, soaking up the cool evening air and listening to the rustling of leaves in the breeze.
You can also venture out of Rome and head South-West. There you can choose between the ancient ruins of Ostia, Rome’s old port, and the very popular beaches at Fiumicino.
